CENOTAPH
This picture is with the compliments of the Hon. John Horne and It was probably taken between the 20s or 30s. In those days, horsepower had a different meaning.
The Cenotaph (Iron Man) would latter have been constructed in the middle of the square. It has recently been re-located. One can see the water trough for horses, mules and donkeys with the crown in the center of the structure. The Thomas Lawlor & Co building looked as it did a few years ago before Jax Enterprises Ltd renovated the building. After Thomas Lawlor & Co, the next occupants were Mc Connie Gill & Co, De Passos Layne & Co and then Jax Enterprises Ltd.
Thanks Clifford for the notes.
