Dec 1997: ST VINCENT AND THE GRENADINES - St Vincent and The Grenadines Netball Association celebrated its 50th anniversary on 26th April 1997. On this basis then the association had its beginnings in 1947
A week of social activities was planned, including a social evening, a radio discussion on netball and a Church Service at The Kingstown Methodist Church.
50 teams participated in the 1997 Cable & Wireless sponsored netball tournament which took place from 2nd March to 1st June this year. A candlelighting ceremony preceded the opening of the tournament. The eventual winners were:
Three Jewel Joggers (Premier Division)
C & R Enterprise Sion Hill (Division One)
Ginsana Calliaqua United (Division Two)
C & R Enterprise Sion Hill (Division Three)
Three Jewel Joggers also won the Club Championship Tournament which was held in Dominica.
St Vincent & The Grenadines U23 team recently participated in the OECS ECCB sponsored netball tournament held in Nevis, where they finished third.
